FDA bans devices used to shock students with disabilities as "treatment" at Massachusetts school
Yes - this is cause for celebration! Disability Rights International (DRI) has been working to stop this barbaric practice at the Judge Rotenberg Center for more than 10 years. DRI was able to get the United Nations to declare this to be torture not treatment. DRI met with the FDA to present the torture findings and recently filed a torture case with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), which called for an immediate ban on the procedure.
