Filmmaker
Jody Santos is an international filmmaker and journalism educator who has traveled to over 30 countries across five continents to document everything from the trafficking of girls in Nepal to the abuse and neglect of children with disabilities living in institutions in Mexico and the Republic of Georgia.
Her teaching career includes six years as an associate professor of communications at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she launched the school’s mobile broadcasting unit, and her volunteer work with the Boston-based nonprofit Paper Airplanes, where she taught a videoconferencing course on citizen journalism to conflict-impacted Syrians. She is the author of the book Daring to Feel: Violence, The News Media, and Their Emotions, published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2009.
