DRI's case against Mexico featured in The Guardian

"For decades, disabled children and adults living in institutions worldwide have suffered abuse of all kinds – from deprivation and solitary confinement in miniature cells, to sexual abuse and forced sterilisation. Now a charity which has documented this abuse for more than 20 years is bringing a landmark legal case against the Mexican government, with the intention of laying down a new line in international law." 

DRI staff threatened on eve of press conference in Mexico City

DRI founder and Executive Director Eric Rosenthal, along with DRI’s Mexico staff, were threatened last evening with violence against them if they held today’s planned press conference, where they will announce legal action against the government, for allowing egregious human rights abuses against children and adults with disabilities, to continue unabated, despite reports from DRI. No Justice: Torture, Trafficking and Segregation in Mexico

Mexico City – July 22, 2015 – Today, Disability Rights International (DRI) released a report No Justice: Torture, Trafficking, and Segregation in Mexico. The report reveals the existence of a “blacklist” of institutions for children and adults with disabilities known to be abusive by Mexico City authorities – who nevertheless allow these facilities to continue operating without interference.
